Your cool mystery (1997)

1) Another sleepless night

Don't wanna wake up alone again,
Don't wanna go down that road again,
Don't wanna lose control again,
Don't wanna make that mistake again,
Don't wanna live in the real world,
I never wanted a normal life,
Don't wanna whisper another prayer,
Will you be there in the morning light,

So on and on and on it goes,
One by one the days unfold,
A thousand dreams have disappeared,
Give me back my wasted years.

Afternoons that fade away,
sleepless nights are here to stay,
Don't look forward to another day,
It's not a game I choose to play,
So while I lie here awake at night,
Bring me hope, make me feel alright,
Or maybe whisper a lullaby,
Then say goodnight for the final time.

So on and on and on it goes,
One by one the days unfold,
A thousand dreams have disappeared,
Give me back my wasted years.

2) Still come back to me

If you mean is what you say,
There's nothing left here anyway,
Whether time can heal my broken heart, it's hard to say,
You never understood the way I felt about you,
How could you, how could you,
And now you've left me feeling empty and confused,
That's nothing new,
If things could change,

If things could change,
Will you still come back to me,

After all that's said and done,
I'm only human after all,
If I could ever be what you expect me to be,
God only knows,

Things might change,
Things might change,
Will you still come back to me.

If you mean is what you say,
There's nothing left here anyway,
Maybe time can heal my broken heart, it's hard to say,so hard to say.

Will you still come back to me,
I'll always lay my door open for you...

3) Silent Echo

Silent echo, your wordless song,
Bring a new beginning to this unwelcome dawn,
I'm head bowed and restless, a need to cry.

How I long to see your face in that melting crowd,
Watch the sunrise as the night flies away, flies away.

I'm older, so much wiser
You can't hurt me,
Love won't let me down again,

Echoes in the blue,
It was the sweetest song for you,
Now I'm sinking slowly,
Like september sun.

Headlong to the cold when you softly fell,
No charms or trophies or absent friends,
Bring a new beginning, to a welcome end.

Don't you know,I'm older, so much wiser
You can't hurt me,
Love won't let me down again,
I'm older, so much wiser
You can't hurt me,
Love won't let me down again,

Echoes in the blue,
It was the sweetest song for you,
Now I'm sinking slowly,
Like september sun.

How I long to see your face in that melting crowd,
Watch the sunrise as the night flies away, flies away.

4) Cry

I think the time is right, let's make a change in our lives,
It's been so long, no profit from those lies,
Escape the torture,
Take on strength and make a move now,
Don't be afraid to look into my eyes and say now,
Get a hold on where you're going, it's not love you're showing,

I don't think you should cry, for another man,
I don't think you should cry, but you don't understand.

Now it's the time let's uncover all our secrets,
Mistakes and heartaches, we'll let them on the ground,
Let these trouble waters flow down to the ocean
Let's end the suffering of this story never told,
Get a hold on where we're going, it's not love we're showing,

I don't think you should cry, for another man,
I don't think you should cry, but you don't understand.

5) Caged Bird

So I woke up early to a brand new day,
I washed away the troubles of yesterday,
No more bad dreams no more games to play,
Listen to the words I have to say,
No one knows the reason why the caged bird sings
and half the world suffers while the other half sings,
If it was given wings of freedom, would it fly away,

And I wonder, and I wonder,
Yes I wonder, yes I wonder,

If I could put myself on a silent hill,
Where the sun shines so hard and the air is still,
And if the rain returns, like it always did,
It won't bother me no more,
Because that's the way it is.

So I woke up late to a world awake,
I see the sun's about to fade away,
So I say goodbye to one more day,
I won't miss it much I have to say,
Now I don't know or cares what tomorrow brings,
And while the world I smile and sing,
If you were given wings of freedom, do you think you'd say,

And I wonder, and I wonder,
Yes I wonder, yes I wonder,

If I could put myself on a silent hill,
Where the sun shines so hard and the air is still,
And if the rain returns, like it always did,
It won't bother me no more,
Because that's the way it is.

6) Your cool mystery

I'd give you anything, you just name it,
Just tell me what you need, and I'll arrange it.
I don't care where you go,
Or what you do there,
I swear I'd sell my soul to be with you there.

But you're away again,
At some near perfect end,
And there's no room for me,
In your cool mystery.

I can't believe you say,
That I don't do much
That I dream my life away,
I don't sleep much.
I spent the nights awake,
And I tried, believe me,
But sometimes those things you say,
I wish you you'd leave me,

And go away again,
And find your perfect end
Because I'm so lost you see,
In your cool mystery.

Don't leave me anything,
Because I won't keep much,
Don't you explain a thing,
Because it won't mean much.
It's like I don't know who you are,
Or where you came from,
But you blew my world apart,
And hung the blame on me.
When silence fills the hours,
Instead of hearts and flowers,
And no one found the key,
To your cool mystery.

7) Great Big City

Tried so hard to get ahead,
But I'm lost in this great big city,
I've had enough of banging on doors,
I'm lost in this great big city.
Sick and tired of wasting my time,
I'm lost in this great big city.
Now there's a yearning deep down in my soul,
To get out of this great big city.

Well I wake up to screaming days that swallowed up my life,
And spit me out to cry bitter tears through the night,
Mother I love you, I miss my happy home
Now I know it's where I belong.

Go find your way,
Go find your way back home.

Trouble follows me wherever I turn,
I'm lost in this great big city.
I need an angel to come and rescue me,
I'm lost in this great big city.
Every corner I turn, there's a devil in disguise,
I'm lost,
Now there's a yearning deep down in my soul,
To get out of this great big city.

Go find your way,
Go find your way back home.

If I had no onscience then my spirit would be free,
I'm calling out your name
Is this my hour of need,
Please help me I'm lost and afraid,
Make the sun shine in my backyard today.

Go find your way,
Go find your way back home.

8) Shine (Little Gods)

This heart should be bleeding for no one,
This heart's much too young to grow wise,
To break up in two,
For a little God,
Those eyes should be searching for nothing,
Those eyes should be gazing at stars,
So why shed a tear for a little God,

Hearts and minds are lost in a dark place,
Looking for that piece of breathing space,
Never knowing which way to turn,
But that's the way we've all gotta learn,
Don't sell your soul for a piece of gold,
Or you may die before you're grey and old,
You spend your time looking for idols,
They're nothing but your little Gods,

But if you shine, shine just a little,
You may find, some piece of mine,
If you shine, shine just a little,
You may find, some piece of mine,

Your faith lends itself to a nation,
Your faith puts all nations to shame
A crying shame, it's a crying shame,
Your face throws a smile from a picture,
Your name rests on every tongue,
In every starving mouth, there's a little God,

But if you shine, shine just a little,
You may find, some piece of mine,
If you shine, shine just a little,
You may find, some piece of mine.

9) Where are you now

I walk the streets at night looking for a shelter from the storm,
The night is full of demons calling from the milestones of my past,
If there's a place where I can lay my head can someone show me now
Right now.
The party's over, lights are down,
And I'm going nowhere fast.

Where are you now,
Where are you now,
Where are you now,now that I need you,
Now that I need you,
You're not here.

Some say that life is short but someday it seems so long,
Oh so long.
I just close my eyes to dream and leave the world I know unseen,
I find myself back in your arms and all my worries fade away,
Fade away,
These pictures in my head leave me feeling empty and alone,
So alone.

Where are you now,
Where are you now,
Where are you now,now that I need you,
Now that I need you,
You're not here.

10) Rise

No need to blind me with your words,
Your words don't mean a thing,
They may have meant something yesterday.
If I could lose all my troubles there'd no reason to worry,
Those days were bad I don't want them back.
If I look to the future,
The sun will shine above me,
And light up the path that takes me there.
There's nothing that can stop me,
Now there's no one left to hold me,
I'm leaving everything behind,

I'm gonna rise, above it all,
Rise above it all.

If life's a drag, well I don't care,
Because things can't get much worse,
And somewhere there's a place on this earth,
Where every fool falls in love and every season falls like summer,
And no one falls for diamond and pearls,
Maybe fate, maybe karma,
But someday not too far off,
I'll pick up my life and turn it round,
With all my friends far behind me
And my ennemies to guide me,
I'll put myself up off the ground.

I'm gonna rise, above it all,
Rise above it all.
